Some Kitten
Comments |
|
The
first 12 weeks of a kitten's life are crucial to its development and future
health; they should not be removed from their mothers any sooner.
Like all young animals, kittens rely on their
mother to keep them warm, safe and well nourished. Important nutrients and
immunity to many diseases are transferred to the kitten through its mother's
milk.
At six to eight weeks, the mother cat will
gradually wean her kittens onto solid food. This stage is also very important as
they learn their social skills through playing games with siblings. By 12 weeks,
kittens have a more developed immune system and are better able to handle the
stress of leaving their family. Registered breeders are required to mother their
kittens for a full 12 weeks to ensure that you are receiving healthy and
properly socialized kittens.
